n. [bell a bell, flýs a fleece] The BELL-WETHER'S FLEECE, the fleece of a sheep that carries the bell; tympani vellus, i. e. ducis gregis tintinnabulum gestantis vellus :-- Bel-flýs id est, tympani vellus, L. R. S. 14; Th. i. 438, 23. bel-flys
