m. One who shares another's secrets, a confidant:--Gehala vel gerúna sinmistes vel consecretalis, Wrt. Voc. i. 18, 18. Sege ús nú ꝥ sóðe búton ǽlcon leáse, and wé beóð þíne gehalan and þíne midspecan, ne wé nellað þé ámeldian, ac hit eall stille lǽtan, ꝥ hit nán man ne þearf geáxian búton ús sylfum, Hml. S. 23, 590.
