m. I. of a person, an author, originator. Cf. heáfod; VIII :-- Ðá bisceopas swíðost ǽlces gedweldes tiledon, and ǽlc gedwyld hí upp árǽrdon. Twégen ðǽr wǽron bisceophádes men þe ǽlces yfeles heáfodhebban wǽron, Hml. S. 23, 365.
