An Anglo-Saxon abbey at York, afterwards St. Mary's; abbātiæ nōmen ăpud Eborācum :-- On ðysum geáre forþferde Síward eorl on Eoforwíc, and his líc líþ binnan ðam mynstre æt Galmanhó [Galmahó, Th. 324, 10, col. 2], ðe he sylf ǽr getimbrade, Gode to lofe and eallum his hálgum in this year [A.
