n. I. a law expressed in the form of a command (II. 6), an ordinance; or a law expressed in spoken words, a spoken law:- -- Móyses dómas, wræclíco wordriht, Cd. Th. 177, 31; Exod. 3. II. a statement of what is right; or (?) a duty which one has given his word to perform ((told them much of what they ought to do ; or (?) told them much of what they had promised to do.
