adj. In Andr. Kmbl. 2233; An. 1118 the alliteration seems to require reów. In the compounds blód-, wæl-hreów the second syllable seems to be hreóh [or is it reów, or may hreów be a confusion of the two forms?], as the form hreóh does not occur independently in the sense offierce. Grein separates hreóh [hreów] under two heads with the meanings sævus, mæstus, but this seems unnecessary, as the idea of mental disturbance may be derived from that of physical disturbance in hreóh, q.hreówe.
