- m. A warnel or wornil. [Bailey's Dictionary gives 'warnel worms, worms on the backs of cattle within the skin'; and in Johnson's Dictionary, ed. Lathnm, is quoted the following: 'In the backs of cows in the summer are maggots generated, which in Essex we call wornils, being first only a small knot in the skin.'
