D. 44, 2. Hí þanon gangende gewídmǽrodon (diffamaverunt, v. Mt. 9, 31 (the passage quoted), where the word is translated gewídmǽrsudim. To the same passage belongs the gloss gewídmǽrdan (gewídmǽrsan, 26, 32) difamavenmt, Wrt. Voc. ii. 72, 41) hine geond eal ꝥ land, 60, ll. II. to spread the knowledge of a circumstance, report widely :-- Wæs gewídmǽred (-mǽrsod, v. l.) ꝥ hé betwih gebedes word his líf geendade uulgatum est quod inter uerba orationis uitam finierit, Bd. 3, 12 ; Sch. 245, 11. ge-widmæran -ian
