- p. te. I. intrans. To stare about. (1) of persons, to let the eyes rove :-- Ðæt hine lǽrð se deófol, þæt hé stande and gorette and lócige underbæc út; þæt bið gymeleás gebed, Wlfst. 234, 18. (2) of the eyes or looking, to rove :-- Þǽr (in hell) wépað ðá eágan þe nú ðurh unálýfedlice gewilnunga goretende hwearftliað, Hml. Th. i. 530, 31.
