I. or cling to, betake oneself; inhærere, insistere :-- Þilcum wordum heó him befelh ǽlce dæge hujuscemodi verbis per singulos dies mulier molesta eras ei, Gen. 39, 10. Æfter ðon ðe he ðǽr sum fæc hálgum leornungum befealh after he had there for a while betaken himself to holy learning, Bd. 4. 23; S. 594, 19.
