Substitute: (1) feeling compassion or pity:--Þá þá hé geseah his fóstormóder wépan hé wæs sóna hire sáre efensárig (ejus dolori compassus), Gr. D. 97, 16. (2) equally sorry:--Þá wurdon hiora wíf sárige . . . hié woldon ꝥte þá óþere wíf wǽren emsárige him (ut omnibus par ex simili conditione animus fieret), Ors. 1, 10; S. 46, 3. efen-sarig
