comp. adj. [elcian to put off, delay; elcung lateness, delay] Latter; postĕrior:--Gif hie cumaþ of óðrum biterum and yfelum wǽtum, ða ðe wyrceaþ óman, ðonne beóþ ða elcran to stillanne óþ-ðæt ðe hie unstrangran weorþan if they come from other bitter and evil humours, which cause inflammations, then are the latter to be stilled until they become less strong, L.
