- p. -spæc, pl. -spǽcon; pp. -specen [for-, specan, sprecan to speak] To speak in vain, speak negatively, deny; frustra dīcĕre, nĕgāre :-- Hæbbe he ðæt eall forspecen let him have spoken that all in vain, L. C. S. 27; Th. i. 392, 6. Ne sý forspecen ne forswígod let it not be denied nor concealed, L. Ath.
