adj. Timid, fearful, trembling; trĕpĭdus, terrĭbĭlis :-- Him forhtlíce fǽrspel bodedon they fearful announced to them the sudden news, Judth. 12; Thw. 25, 5; Jud. 244. Fleóþ forhtlíce þunres brógan they, being afraid, shall flee the terror of [thy] thunder; a vōce tŏnitrui tui formīdābunt, Ps. Th. 103, 8.
