- adj. Mind-frighted, timid, pusillanimous; trĕpĭdus anĭmo, păvĭdus :-- He forhtmód wáfode he was hesitating, being frightened in mind, Ælfc. T. 35, 23. Ic sceal eaforan mine forhtmód fergan I, being timid, must convey my children, Exon. 104 b; Th. 397, 1; Rä. 16, 13. forht-mod
