A grass-enclosure, a meadow; prātum, pascuum : hence GERSTON, now used in Surrey and Sussex, in the same sense :-- Be ceorles gærstúne : gif ceorlas gærstún hæbben gemǽnne, oððe óðer gedálland to týnanne of a churl's meadow : if churls have a common meadow or other partible land to fence, L.
