p. de; pp. ed To strive against, resist; repugnāre, resistĕre :-- Gif he gewyrce ðæt man hine afylle þurh ðæt ðe be ongeán riht geanbyrde if he act so that he be killed because he strove against right, L. C. S. 49; Th. i. 404, 13.
