p. de; pp. ed To frighten, terrify; terrēre :-- Gif ðú mec gebringest, ðæt ic sí gebrydded þurh ðæs cantices cwide Cristes línan if thou wilt bring me, that I may be frightened through the word of the canticle of Christ's discipline, Salm. Kmbl. 32; Sal. 16.
