Add: (1) gently, mildly :-- Gif hé hit gedæftelíce ásægð si molestias tranquille lingua diceret, Past. 273, 20. (2) in a. fitting manner, suitably :-- Secge him mon suíðe gedæftelíce for his ágnum scyldum modis congruentibus de proprio reatu feriendi sunt, Past. 185, 12. Hís léchama on ðǽre cyricean norðportice gedæftelíce (-dæft-líce, ) wæs bebyrged in porticu aquilonali decenter sepullum est, Bd. 2, 3; Sch. 124, 16. v. un-gedæft[e]líce. ge-dæftelice
