l. -efestan, -efstan, and add: (1) to get by hastening :-- Geonet oððe geefest preoccupetur (to strive after :-- Ꝥ án wæs swíðost fram heom eallum geefst, ꝥ heora ǽlc wǽre on líchaman deád and on gáste libbende the one most earnest endeavour of all was to be dead in the body and living in the spirit, Hml. S. 23 b, 90. ge-efstan
