- p. de; pp. ed. I. to hide, conceal; condĕre, abscondĕre :-- Is ðæt fýr on stánum gehéded fire is hidden in stones, Bt. Met. Fox 20, 302; Met. 20, 151. II. to acquire, obtain, seize; obtĭnēre, deprehendĕre :-- Ǽr he gehéde ðæt he ǽr æfter spyrede until he seizes that which he before sought after, Bt. Met. Fox 27, 29; Met. 27, 15. Forðonðe he ne úðe ðæt ǽnig óðer man ǽfre mǽrþa má gehédde under heofenum ðonne he sylfa because he would not grant that any other man had ever obtained more glories under heaven than himself, Beo.
