p. ed To slope :-- Næs þæt hūs æfter manna gewunan getimbrod, ac mid mislicum torrum gehwemmed (the walls were not smooth and vertical but of varying inclination on account of projecting rocks) tō gelīcnysse sumes scræfes, Hml. Th. i. 508, 17. Cf. hwem-dragen. ge-hwemman
