p. de; pp. ed To compel, force, press; cogere, compellere, expellere :-- Alexander ðæt folc to him genýdde Alexander forced the people to him, Ors. 3, 9; Bos. 65, 18, 19, 20. Genýddon, Mk. Bos. 15, 21. Genýt, Mt. Bos. 5, 41. Gást hine on wésten genýdde spiritus expulit eum in deserto, Mk. Bos. 1, 12. Wǽron genýdde were forced, Ors. 3, 6; Bos. 58, 21.
