p. ode; pp. od [or without, treówian, trúwian to trust] To distrust, despair; diffīdĕre, dēspērāre :-- Ða ðé ne lǽtaþ geortrúwian be ðis andweardan lífe they suffer thee not to despair of this present life, Bt. 10; Fox 30, 7. Se man lócaþ underbæc, ðe geortrúwaþ Godes mildheortnysse the man looks behind who despairs of God's mercy, Homl. Th. i. 252, 10.
