p. -scyrte; pp. -scyrted, -scyrt; [scyrt short]. I. to shorten, contract, lessen; abbreviare, minuere : Ða spell ic sceal gescyrtan I must shorten the stories, Ors. 1, 8; Bos. 31, 29.
