p. de; pp. ed [stýran to steer, rule] To steer, direct, rule, correct, restrain, withhold; rĕgĕre, corrĭgĕre, cŏhĭbēre, rĕtĭnēre :-- Meaht ðú Adame eft gestýran thou mightest afterwards rule Adam, Cd. 27; Th. 36, 8; Gen. 568: Ors. 3, 1; Bos. 52, 36.
