According to the Old English Dictionary:

láðian

p. ode To be hateful or loathed :-- Heora fela wǽron mid olfendes hǽrum tó líce gescrýdde and ðǽr láðode sóftnys many of them were clad with camel's hair next to the body, and there softness was hateful, Homl. Th. ii. 506, 24. Hió ðæm folce láðade she was hateful to the people, Ors. 3, 11; Swt. 148, 15. [Þe schal laðin his luue, Jul, 16, 6: þat te schal laði þi lif, H. M. 9, 2: him loðie, A.
