According to the Old English Dictionary:

neáh-fæder

a neighbouring father of the church, one not belonging to distant parts :-- Nú ic þus swíðe behealde þá neáhfæderas þe mid ús wǽron dum vicinis valde patribus intendo, Gr. D. 179, 7. neah-fæder
