According to the Old English Dictionary:

of-hnítan

to kill by butting, to gore to death :-- Gif se oxa wer oððe wíf ofhnít if an ox gore a man or woman, that they die. Ex. 21, 29: L. Alf. 21 ; Th. i. 48, 27. of-hnitan
