According to the Old English Dictionary:

ofer-cýðan
to bring stronger testimony than another :-- Wé cwǽdon be mannum ... gif áþ burste oððe ofercýðed wǽre (if the oath were not supported by a sufficient number of compurgators, or were disproved by testimony more strongly supported by oath. Cf. mid áþe cýðan, gecýðan), ðæt hý siððan áþwyrðe nǽron, L. Ed. 3; Th. i. 160, 20. ofer-cyðan
