on-lǽtan
I. to release, relax:--Ðonne forstes bend Fæder onlǽteþ, Beo. Th. 3223; B. 1609. Ðonne him sigera weard his gewealdleðer wille onlǽtan, Met. 11, 28, 75. II. to let a thing go on, to continue:--Tó anlǽtenne continuanda, Wrt. Voc. ii. 135, 19. Fæstan twegen dagas on ðære wucan, bútan hý ouermicel geswinc habben. Gif hý út an æcere wurc habben, ðæs middæges gereord is singallíce tó anlǽtenne (on-, MS. T.), R. Ben. 66, 1. on-lætan
