p. te. I. to weary :-- Ðæt folc wearð þrít and þearle geswenct mid ðam síðfæte taedere coepit populum itineris ac laboris, Num. 21, 4. II. to urge, press, force :-- Seó wyrd ðe þriétaþ (-eþ?) ða yflan tó wítnianne fortuna quae justo supplicio malos coercet, Bt. 40, 2; Fox 236, 25. [Icel. þreytask to be exhausted; þreyttr tried, exhausted: Dan. træt wearied.]
