wíc. III
add :-- Þá cóm him fǽringa tó micel folc manna . . . wǽron ealle hǽdena, and þone Hǽlend ne cúþe nán man of þǽre wíc þe hí of wǽron, Hml. S. 31, 1016. Ðænne þæs embe fíf niht ꝥ áfered byð winter of wícum (cf. tún; IV.), Men. 24.
