The Anglo-Saxon Rune RUNE = eó, the name of which letters in Anglo-Saxon is eóh = íw a yew-tree; taxus, -- hence this Rune not only stands for the diphthong eo, but for eoh a yew-tree, as, -- RUNE [Eóh] biþ útan unsméðe treów, heard, hrusan fæst yew is outwardly an unsmooth tree, hard, fast in the earth, Hick.
