[Sweet, in the note on this passage, suggests that the word may he from the same root as quatio, adding that Prof. Skeat compares the Scotch houd to shake. May not the word however be used from a misconception of the Latin word, by which excutere is considered as connected with cutis = hýd?] hudenian
