I. add: (1) to break to pieces a material object :-- Reód forþrést ne sý tó;brýd (conterendum), R. Ben. I. 108, 9. (2) to destroy a person or thing, bring to destruction :-- His setl on eorðan þú tóbrýttest sedem eius in terra collisisti, Ps. L. 88, 45. Tóbrýt nú þísne bréman here, Hml. S. 25, 629.
