I. to occupy:--Ic onsitte insideo, Ælfc. Gr. 26; Som. 29, 6. Ðó þré acres ðe hé onsit, Cod. Dip. Kmbl. iII. to oppress (cf. colloquial to sit on a person):--For ðám heardum weorcum ðe him onsæt, Ex. 6, 9. Gehreás l onsæt egsa heora ofer hig incubuit timor eorum super eos, Ps. Lamb. 104, 38.
