m. A HOUND, a dog; applied to persons as a term of abuse in English and in other dialects :-- Ðá hé ðider com ðá sceolde cuman ðære helle hund ongeán hine ðæs nama wæs Ceruerus when he came thither, it is said, that then the dog of hell, whose name was Cerberus, came towards him, Bt. 35, 6; Fox 168, 15.
