p. de. I. trans. To pervert, apply to a wrong use, abuse :-- Ðá miswendon sume ða englas heora ágenne cyre, and hý sylfe tó deóflum geworhton then some of the angels made an ill-use of the choice that was theirs, and made themselves devils, Homl.
