m. One who speaks for another, a defender, advocate; advŏcātus, patrōnus :-- Forspeca vel mundbora advŏcātus, patrōnus, vel interpellātor, Ælfc. Gl. 106; Som. 78, 62; Wrt. Voc. 57, 42.
