n. : but síce, es; m. seems also to occur. A sike. 'Sike a watercourse; applied to a natural as well as to an artificial stream; the latter usually constructed to receive the contents of field gutters, for discharge into the river.' Mid-Yorks. Gloss. See also E. D. S. Pub. 13, 15, and Old Farming Words, III :-- Sike a quillet or furrow. Jamieson gives sike a rill.
