n. [ge-, beót a threatening]. I. a threatening, threat, boast; commĭnātio, mĭnæ :-- Alýs us, Drihten, fram his gebeóte and mihte redeem us, Lord, from his threatening and might, Homl. Th. i. 568, 22.
