Wæl-genga
Bosworth & Toller 盎格鲁-撒克逊古英语词典 - wæl-genga
根据古英语词典:
an ;
- wæl-genga
- m. A deadly walker, a wild beast, a dragon :-- Wælgengan belue, An. Ox. 8, 305 : 5, 41. [Napier suggests wǽl-, and takes the word to mean deepwater-goer. In support of this might be quoted belua, bestia maris, Wrt. Voc. ii. 125, 44; and the subaqueous home of Grendel and his mother. (Perhaps wsélgæst, rather than wælgæst, is used of the former, B. 1331.) In favour of wæl- it may be noted that the word describes a destructive dragon on land, and the compound may compare with mán-genga and wæl-hwelp.] wæl-genga
