An ornament suspended from the neck, a bell [?] hung from a dog's neck :-- Hryðeres belle and hundes hoppe ǽlc biþ ánes scill. weorþ and ǽlc is melda geteald an ox's bell and that on a dog's collar, each is worth a shilling and each is reckoned an informer, L.
