[blǽc light, ærn a place] Literally a lamp or candlestick, also the light itself; verbum de verbo, candelabrum, etiam candela, lucerna :-- Bæd ðæt hí ðæt blǽcern acwencton prayed that they would put out the light [lucernam], Bd. 4, 8; S. 575, 40, note, MS.
