- Substitute: A covering of the ground(?) :-- Wæs þætdeáw swilce hit hagoles eorðhele wǽre the dew was as if there were a covering of hail upon the ground; ros jacuit. . . in similitudinem pruinae super terram, Ex. 16, 14. Cf. helian. eorþ-hele
