According to the Old English Dictionary:

gúþ-frec
Substitute: greedy for war or destruction. The epithet is applied to the cannibals who, distressed by hunger, were eager for the death of the victim they meant to eat :-- Þá wæs rinc manig, gúðfrec guma, ymb þæs geongan feorh breóstum onbryrded tó þám beaduláce, An. 1119. guþ-frec
