- adj. Running to the shore(?), steeply sloping, precipitous :-- Stæþhlépe divexum, i. inclinatum, pronum, Wrt. Voc. ii. 141, 52. Hí ne mihton ofer ðæt scræf swá swæðhlýpe (stæþ-?) [wæs] dǽr hí gongan [sceoldon] ǽr ðon hié gerýmdon ðone upgang and geworhtan they could not pass the cave, so steep was it where they had to go, before they had cleared and constructed the ascent, Blickl.
